History

Thune was founded in 1857 when Nilius Martinius Thune opened his shop in Egertorget in the heart of Oslo. N. M. Thune was a brilliant goldsmith, and the firm continued to prosper for several generations. The name Thune became synonymous with elegant designs and excellent craftsmanship, making the firm a respected major wholesaler and retailer. The first shop in Egertorget still exists and is now one in a total of 18 stores in the Oslo area, Bergen, Trondheim and Bodø.
